Heat pump repair

Signs your heat pump needs attention:

  • Blowing cool air in heating mode, or stuck in one mode. Often a reversing valve or its solenoid, or a thermostat that isn’t set up for a heat pump.
  • Ice that won’t clear. Light frost in winter is normal, but a unit that stays iced over usually has a defrost control, sensor, or airflow problem.
  • Running on backup heat all the time. Emergency heat is expensive to run, so a heat pump that won’t carry the load shows up on your bill.
  • Outdoor fan not spinning, or the unit won’t start. Capacitor, contactor, motor, or control board issues.
  • Weak heating and cooling. Commonly a refrigerant leak or a dirty coil.

On a repair visit we check the defrost cycle and reversing valve operation, measure refrigerant performance with superheat and subcooling, test electrical components, confirm the backup heat works, and give you an upfront price before any repair.

Do you install new heat pumps?

Yes. We install and replace heat pump systems and give free quotes. We are an authorized Armstrong Air dealer, and financing is available through Wisetack, subject to credit approval.

How much is a heat pump service call?

Our standard service call is $80, or $50 for Wright Way Maintenance Plan members, who also get 10% off repairs.

Is a heat pump covered by the Wright Way Maintenance Plan?

Yes. The plan is $200 per year for your first system and includes two visits, one in spring and one in fall. Each additional system is $100 per year.

Do you service heat pumps in Kansas?

Yes. Along with our Missouri service area, we serve Galena and Pittsburg, Kansas.
