Common AC problems we fix

  • Blowing warm air or not keeping up. Often a failed capacitor or contactor, a dirty condenser coil, or a low refrigerant charge caused by a leak.
  • Outdoor unit humming but not running. Usually a weak capacitor, a seized fan motor, or a compressor that won’t start.
  • Ice on the copper lines or indoor coil. Restricted airflow from a clogged filter or dirty coil, or low charge.
  • Water around the indoor unit. A clogged condensate drain line or overflowing pan.
  • Short cycling or rising bills. Thermostat problems, a dirty coil, or a failing TXV/EEV metering valve.
  • Tripped breakers. An electrical fault that needs to be found, not just reset.

What happens on an AC repair visit

  1. We start by listening: when the problem started, any noises, and how the thermostat is set.
  2. We check the thermostat, electrical connections, capacitor, and contactor, and take amp and voltage readings.
  3. We measure refrigerant performance with superheat and subcooling readings instead of guessing or “topping off.”
  4. We look over the indoor and outdoor coils and the condensate drain.
  5. We explain what we found and give you an upfront price before any repair begins.

We service systems running R-22, R-410A, and the newer A2L refrigerants (R-32 and R-454B). If your system is older and a repair no longer makes financial sense, we’ll tell you, and we can give you a free quote on a replacement system. Members of the Wright Way Maintenance Plan get priority scheduling, a $50 service call, and 10% off repairs.

We give free quotes on new systems and replacements. We are an authorized Armstrong Air dealer, and financing is available through Wisetack, subject to credit approval.
